Poland IBAN Format: The Complete Reference

Polish IBANs are 28 characters — one of the longer formats. They include an 8-digit bank/branch code and 16-digit account number.

Polish IBAN Structure

A Polish IBAN is always 28 characters long:

  • PL — country code
  • XX — 2 check digits
  • XXXXXXXX — 8-digit bank and branch routing number (NRB)
  • XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX — 16-digit account number

The NRB Number

Poland's domestic bank account format is the NRB (Numer Rachunku Bankowego), which is 26 digits long. The IBAN is formed by prepending "PL" and the 2 IBAN check digits to the NRB.

Major Polish Banks

PKO Bank Polski uses routing code 10201026; Bank Pekao uses 12401112; mBank uses 11402004. Poland uses the zloty (PLN) and is a full SEPA member.
