France IBAN Format
27-character IBAN · EUR Euro · SEPA zone
A France IBAN is 27 characters long and always begins with the country code FR, followed by two check digits. The next 5 characters are the Bank Code. This is followed by the Branch Code (Guichet) (5 characters). The remaining 11 characters identify the individual account number. The France IBAN uses the EUR (Euro) and is a <strong>SEPA member</strong>, meaning euro transfers from other SEPA countries are fast and low-cost.

How to Find Your France IBAN
France accounts are traditionally identified using: Bank Code / Code banque (5n) + Branch Code / Code guichet (5n) + Account Number / Numéro de compte (11c) + Check Key / Clé RIB (2n). Your IBAN encodes these same components in the standardised international format.
-
1

France is a SEPA member. IBAN alone is sufficient for SEPA euro transfers. French banks traditionally displayed the RIB (Relevé d'Identité Bancaire) which encodes the same components as the BBAN. La Banque Postale accounts use bank code 20041.
Specialist services typically charge significantly less than high-street banks for international transfers.
